Abstract

Volume rendering is known as the generation of a 2D image directly from 3D volumetric data. Because all the voxels participate in the generation of image, rendering time grows dramatically with the resolution and scale of the dataset. This paper presents a new method to accelerate volume rendering. In order to reduce the rendering time, a technique called ray leaping with back-track is proposed, which is to enhance the acceleration ratio.
