Abstract
In previous papers, as a basis for developing an identification technique of nonlinear distributed systems based on their dynamical responses, the authors proposed a new technique for nonlinear beams, and showed its applicability by numerical simulation. In this paper, to see how the technique works in practical cases, the proposed technique is applied to an actual steel beam. The obtained results are evaluated by comparing the actual responses with those predicted by the identification. It is shown that the proposed identification technique well reproduces the actual responses.
