Abstract

A novel Co@CoO/N-reduced graphene oxide (RGO)/acetylene black (AB) hybrid was synthesized via an extremely facile route. The Co@CoO particles with sizes of 20–40nm and the shell thickness of 5–10nm together with AB particles are well anchored on the wrinkled N-RGO sheets, which exhibits a remarkably higher electrocatalytic activity for oxygen reduction reaction than RGO, N-RGO, Co@CoO/RGO and Co@CoO/RGO/AB, and overwhelmingly superior methanol tolerance and long-term durability relative to the commercial 20wt% Pt/C.
