Abstract

Examines the possibility of teaching the material of a formal lecture course by the use of film. It is realized that a film by itself is unlikely to be completely successful and that class discussions and the use of other teaching material are required. This extra material comprises projection slides of shots from the film for use in the class discussions, a set of printed notes and an 8 mm silent print for private study and revision using a desk-top projector. The teaching efficiency of the film, slides etc. is determined by comparative tests relative to normal lecture instruction. The film by itself is also tested as a revision aid.
