Abstract

Purpose: Patients undergoing radiation therapy for prostate cancer are required to have a comfortably full bladder at our institution to achieve greater normal tissue sparing and better target position reproducibility. At the time of simulation, bladder filling is assessed and considered acceptable when the dome of the bladder is 1-4cm above the superior aspect of the femoral heads, but not above L5/S1. Failure to meet this criteria would result in either repeated imaging on the same day or rescheduling to a different day.
