Abstract

Although various assistance programmes have been developed and provided to the cooperatives in Malaysia, limited empirical studies have investigated the effectiveness of the assistance programmes offered to these organizations. This study attempted to evaluate the effectiveness of the assistance programmes provided by the Malaysia Cooperative Societies Commission (MCSC), the Cooperative College of Malaysia (CCM) and the National Cooperative Organization of Malaysia (NCOM). By using questionnaires, the data for the study was collected from 92 cooperatives. Findings of the study suggested that in general the cooperatives viewed the assistance programmes provided by the three supporting agencies as effective. Keywords: Cooperatives, assistance programmes, Malaysia.
