Abstract

It is with mixed emotions that I am putting together the last issue of SRL upon which I am listed as Editor in Chief. Starting with the next issue (January/February 2002), Dr. Susan Hough of the U.S. Geological Survey in Pasadena, California will carry the Editor in Chief title, and along with it the primary responsibility for SRL . I am thrilled that Sue has agreed to take on this job. I have always respected her as a scientist, and her stint as seismology editor for Eos gives her an excellent background for the editorship of SRL . Sue and I are already starting to undertake the transition in editorial duties, and things are going very smoothly. I know Sue will do an excellent job and that SRL readers will continue to enjoy interesting and informative opinions, articles, and other contents in future SRL issues.
