Abstract

This paper presents and explains two microcomputer programs which can be used in teaching market-based accounting research. The first program performs simple OLS regression and the second computes the Abnormal Performance Index. The use of these programs for illustrating market-based accounting research can simplify the presentation of complex material in doctoral and graduate accounting research seminars. In addition, if utilized for case studies and problem solving, they provide the student with hands on experience with empirical accounting research and can enhance the student's interest in and understanding of this important area of the accounting and finance literature.
