Abstract
ABSTRACT The Indian poultry industry has seen rapid growth driven by rising consumer demand for poultry products, emphasizing the need for efficient poultry feed supply chains. These supply chains significantly influence feed availability, affordability, and the overall productivity of the industry, highlighting the importance of understanding their complexities. Despite their critical role, limited documentation exists on the structure and functioning of poultry feed supply chains in India. This research addresses this gap by analyzing and mapping the intricate linkages within India’s poultry feed supply chains. It identifies key components, evaluates their strengths and weaknesses, and underscores their significance in enhancing the poultry industry across various regions. Insights were gathered through consultations with industry leaders, including Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) and Managing Directors (MDs) of major feed manufacturers, distributors, trade associations, poultry scientists, and experts. Our findings reveal transformative trends in the sector, including strategic backward integration, stronger stakeholder collaborations, and improved logistics by market intermediaries. These developments underscore the vital contribution of poultry feed supply chains to the growth and sustainability of India’s poultry industry.
