Abstract

An alternative method for determining the dependence of the microstrain λ on the biasing magnetic field H in magnetostrictive amorphous ribbons and wires is proposed. Such a technique is based on the dependence of the λ( H) function on the biasing field at either the acoustic stress point of origin or the elastic wave receiving point, in magnetostrictive delay lines. Experimental results are given, illustrating a good agreement between the results obtained by this method and other reference λ( H) function techniques.
