Abstract

Vehicle mass reduction is a critical technology objective that's being pursued by various automakers to improve vehicle performance and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This objective can achieve significant weight loss without compromising other vehicle attributes such as fuel economy and acceleration. The present work reveals some amazing results of about a 20% decrease in the fuel intake and a 10% reduction in CO2 discharges. The frontal and side crash tests show a greater deformation of aluminium than steel but due to its elastic properties, a better riding comfort to the passengers. The properties of Aluminium 6160 and their comparable contrasts with steel clearly suggest a possibility for an increase in usage of aluminium in passenger cars. The current effort adds to the knowledge of aluminium structural and mechanical properties for the creation of all-aluminium vehicles. The goal of developing an all-aluminium car is to minimize fuel consumption while simultaneously improving safety and performance.
