Abstract

A non-linear stochastic process for describing a density fluctuation δϱ( t) is constructed and the correlator <δϱ(0) δϱ( t) > /<δϱ(0) 2 > is computed. A fast process with an Arrhrenius temperature dependence and a slow one with WLF- like temperature dependence are shown to exist. This agrees with the results of photon correlation spectroscopy. The conclusions are true for any amorphous system.
