Abstract

Small models were usually used in previous AMD control experiments. But small models couldn’t reflect all the properties of the full scale AMD systems. Reference to the principle of real-time substructure testing, this paper proposed the real-time AMD subsystem testing method, in which the test system is composed of physical AMD subsystem and numerical structure subsystem. Then this method is applied in the performance test of a new type of AMD subsystem driven by a linear motor, considering a benchmark three-floor frame structure as the numerical structure model. Earthquake excitation is considered as the load case. The subsystem test results of structure responses and AMD states are consistent with the simulation results. The consistency declares that the AMD subsystem testing method is feasible and reliable. This method could be used in perforce test of full scale AMD systems to verify their effectiveness and reliability considering practical excitation cases.
