Abstract

Summary A total of 128 feet were treated by the Scarf osteotomy over a three-year period in an outpatient surgery unit. A retrospective analysis based on medical records and X-ray documents revealed 39.8% presenting with deviations from a complete normal course; among them 25.8% of patients developed complications. This might have an influence on the overall result. Patient selection and postoperative care are of outstanding importance in outpatient Scarf osteotomy.
