Abstract

The Characteristic Green's Function (CGF) technique is used to derive the integral representation of the magnetic vector potential A and the scalar electric potential Green's functions, from which both the modal and image solutions are derived. A third alternative representation of the Green's functions is also derived by combining the CGF technique and the complex images method. In this new representation, the Green's functions are given in terms of a short series of complex images plus the propagating modes of the cavity. Accuracy and efficiency of the derived Green's functions are demonstrated for the whole range of source to field point distances.
