Abstract

Our hair is said to be ‘our crowning glory’. Whether we like it or not, it is there for all to see. Good comments may make us feel good, adverse remarks may cause embarrassment and upset. Changes in hair growth and alopecia may be hard to hide and so there may be considerable distress at the onset of any obvious hair loss. Even a small patch of alopecia may lead to anxieties not only about the current loss but fears that the condition may extend and/or never recover.
