Abstract

Almost Completely Lucid Kristina Warren (bio) Almost Completely Lucid (2019; four melodicas, four channel electronics) is an out-of-body experience in sound, an expressive near miss. The four melodica players variably interpret numbers representing phrase duration, number of notes, number of pitches, and pitch spread, and, more importantly, they choose whether and how to solo or support. The electronics, consisting of digitally synthesized, analog filtered sound, reply with scripted dialogue and pseudoreflections. Trading in noncollaborative collaboration, Almost Completely Lucid hints at a different time altogether. The performance should take approximately ten minutes.
