Abstract
Optical transmission spectra of thin solvent-free films formed by evaporating ammonia from alkali metal-cryptand solutions in liquid ammonia showed absorption bands assigned to alkali metal anions and trapped electrons. Some “electride” films may be metallic since they have plasma absorptions nearly identical to those of concentrated metal—ammonia solutions.
