Abstract

A simple algorithm for estimating the co-polarised phase-difference of polarimetric radar backscatters from vegetated surfaces is proposed. The algorithm is verified by polarimetric scatterometer measurements of wetland rice fields at 5.3 GHz. It is also shown that the measured degrees of correlation of the rice fields are quite sensitive to incidence angle and the rice age.
