Abstract
The syntheses of η 2-aldehyde complexes (OC) 2(PEt 3) 2FeRCHO (R H, 2a; R Ph, 2b) via substitution of the nitrogen ligand in [(OC) 2(PEt 3) 2Fe] 2N 2 ( 1) with formaldehyde or benzaldehyde are reported. From photochemical ligand exchange reactions were obtained the formaldehyde complexes cp *M(CO) 2CH 2O (cp * C 5Me 5, M Mn, 4a; M Re, 4b. 2b and 4a were characterized by X-ray crystallography.
