Abstract

The results obtained from two different laboratory systems for measuring the degradation and sorption of alachlor in soil are compared. The methods were carried out in different laboratories using the same soil. Alachlor degradation as influenced by formulation and soil moisture were measured in closed and open systems. Batch experiments with and without radiolabelled alachlor were used to measure the sorption constant. It was found that differences in degradation rate between the systems were low for both formulations in the, the different methods. However sorption data were slightly more variable but not statistically different. The results in the different experimental conditions evidence the accuracy of the methods used for the herbicide investigated.
