Abstract

An initial study has been undertaken of the air distribution in a 4 ft deep bed of barley from a grid-type above the floor duct with four different air escape areas. It has been found that there can be large variations in the air distribution in the grain around the duct depending on the air escape area. The smaller this area the better the air distribution, but this will also be associated with a higher duct pressure and consequently a higher fan power requirement.
