Abstract

This paper proposes the creation of different interfaces in the mobile operating system for different age groups. The different age groups identified are kids, elderly people and all others. The motive behind creating different interfaces is to make the smartphones of today's world usable to all age groups.

  • In today’s world, the market is pullulating with powerful communication units embedded with highly-advanced technologies

  • The results indicated that elderly found it difficult to use the touch screen phones/smartphones and nearly 60% of elderly belonged to age group 40-50 years and 40% belonged to 51-60%

  • This leads us towards concluding that age interface for the elders should contain minimalist functionality and the icons and text should be bold as the growing age may be accompanied with low vision

INTRODUCTION

In today’s world, the market is pullulating with powerful communication units embedded with highly-advanced technologies. Mobile phones eliminated the main disadvantage of telephone that is immobility. This isn’t the only thing mobile phone are capable of. These devices are the most popular among mobile phone types. Seeing that the number of mobile phones will outnumber the population of earth there is certain need that the mobile phones must evolve with new offerings to the user to keep up in the stiff competition in the market. This field has got lot of opportunities to be explored.
