The 1965 events involving the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI) are considered one of the greatest human catastrophes in Indonesia. However, the 1948 Madiun PKI uprising also represents a significant historical moment. In 1965, the PKI became associated with victimhood, particularly in relation to the mass killings, while in 1948, the PKI was cast as the perpetrator of violence. This article examines two literary works that address the PKI’s 1948 involvement: Tentang Kamu by Tere Liye and Ayat-Ayat yang Disembelih by Anab Afifi and Thowaf Zuharon. Using Marianne Hirsch’s postmemory theory, the study explores how these narratives construct an Islamic counter-memory, framing the PKI as a source of trauma for the second generation of Indonesian Muslims. One strategy, termed "Re-Mussonization," involves the reimagining of the historical figure Musso as a central character, highlighting the PKI’s antagonism toward Islam. Additionally, the article examines the concept of post-Musso narratives, which challenge the dominant, 1965-centric memory of the PKI and offer an alternative perspective on Indonesia’s communist past.

Students' Reception of Social Phenomena in Tere Liye's Novels

This study aims to identify the influence of implicit readers in the novel Bandit-Bandit Berkelas by Tere Liye on students' interpretation of social phenomena, explore how students fill the gaps in the text, and analyze the process of meaning actualization based on Wolfgang Iser's literary reception theory (1978). The method used was a mixed method involving 54 students of Makassar State University of Indonesian Language and Literature department. Data were obtained through closed questionnaires with Likert scale analysis and open questionnaires with thematic analysis. The results showed that the novel had a significant impact in shaping students' interpretations of social phenomena, particularly organized crime and corruption. The implicit reader in the novel encourages students to be more critical of social injustice. Text gaps allow students to actively fill in the narrative gaps through imagination and personal experience, enriching their understanding of the storyline and characters. In addition, the process of meaning actualization takes place continuously after the reading is completed, showing that the novel is not only an entertainment, but also a tool of reflection on complex social structures. This research confirms that literary works can be an effective medium in raising students' social awareness and critical thinking.

Representation of Environmental Damage in The Novel Pukat and Eliana By Tere Liye

Based on the problems in the novel Pukat and Eliana by Tere Liye, it is necessary to do an analysis that discusses the representation of environmental damage in literary works using ecocritical studies. The selection of studies on the representation of environmental damage in literary works as a focus of research has the following reasons: (1) the reflective representation in the novel Pukat and Eliana by Tere Liye is a real-life description of the problems of the characters in the novel with nature and the surrounding environment. The setting used in the story is the forest in Sumatra; (2) the next ecological problem is intentional representation which is a description of the factors that cause damage to the environment in Sumatra; (3) the constructional representation contained in Tere Liye's Pukat and Eliana novel is an impact that occurs as a result of human activity itself. In research with the object of these two novels using qualitative research. This qualitative research as a research step that produces descriptive data in the form of written words of the object being analyzed. The approach in this analysis is an eco-critic approach because this analysis can be used for research on the representation of environmental damage in literary works. Data collection techniques are basically gathering facts related to research problems. Based on research data sources in the form of texts namely novels titled Trawl and novels titled Eliana by Tere Liye the collection of data of this study uses the techniques of listening and documentation study techniques. Ecocriticism studies the ways in which we describe the relationship between humans and their environment. Ecocriticism is also influenced by modern environmental movements. Greg Garrard explored the development of the modern environmental movement and studied several concepts related to eco-criticism, including: (a) pollution, (b) wilderness, (c) apocalypse, (d) housing/dwelling, (e) animals, and (f) earth. Literature itself grows from the environment of society and the natural environment (ecology), which has a function as a medium of representation, views/reflections on the reality of literature which has an important role in changing social values, shared life values and values of local wisdom.

Poetry is a literary work that has high aesthetics. In contrast to other literary works, such as novels and prose. This can be seen from the structure of the literary works of poetry. In general, poetry is used as an intermediary from the outpouring of the author's heart. It can be expressed in spoken or written form using figurative language and beautiful diction. This difference is not seen from the physical structure, but also from the inner structure of the poem. The main elements in poetry consist of two structures, namely physical and mental. Both have elements that bind each other so that a complete totality of meaning is formed. With that, in interpreting a poem can not be separated from these two elements. With that in mind, in this study the researcher will conduct an analysis of the physical and mental structure of the poem entitled 'Good Friends' by Darwis Tere Liye. With the aim of describing diction, images, concrete words and figurative language as well as describing the themes, feelings, tones and messages contained in the poem. It is hoped that this study can be useful and add insight to readers in the field of literature. In this study using an objective approach. The data source is Tere Liye 'Friend of Biak' poem which was obtained from Tere Liye collection of poems. Based on the results of the analysis it is known that this poem has the theme of harmonious friendship. The poet chooses beautiful language diction through his expertise, knows the meaning of the poem to move the hearts of readers, moves them to maintain the good friends they have. Dervish Tere Liye succeeds in presenting the theme of friendship, a happy tone that is able to inspire the spirit to always appreciate, love and maintain the good friends he has because he is special compared to anything. A good friend is like a historical painting that will always have the most beautiful place for it, even though it already has new things.

Analysis of Language Style in the Novel “Hello” by Tere Liye: A Stylistic Review

This research discusses language style or stylistics in the novel Hello by Tere Liye. Language style is the way the author expresses ideas or thoughts using words to produce literary works such as novels, poems, gurindam, and others. The aim is to determine how far and in what ways and how the author uses linguistic signs to obtain special effects. The problem examined in this study is how the language style or majas used by the author in the novel Hello by Tere Liye. The purpose of the research is to describe the stylistic analysis contained in the novel Hello by Tere Liye. The research approach uses a qualitative approach and the research method uses a qualitative descriptive method. The data and data source used in the research is the novel Hello by Tere Liye. The research data collection technique is a note technique in the form of words or sentences from the contents of the novel Hello. Data analysis techniques include data identification, data classification, data analysis and result conclusion. The research results of the novel Hello consist of several types of language styles, namely comparison language style, opposition language style, linking language style and repetition language style. The following is the interpretation of the research results of language style analysis in the novel Hello by Tere Liye, namely the comparison language style consists of several language styles, namely parable 4 data, metaphor 7 data, personification 8 data, opposition language style in the novel Hello is hyperbole 1 data, linking language style consists of metonimia 4 data, asidenton 12 data and repetition language style there is repetition with 12 data with a total of 48 data.

Students today need alternatives to rekindle Islamic values and education. Fostering Islamic values and education is not only carried out through formal educational institutions but can also be done through printed media such as literary works like novels. This research focuses on using novels as a learning medium in the context of Islamic educational values. The researcher chose the novel "Janji" because it contains numerous Islamic educational values embedded in the characters' dialogues and narratives. "Janji" by Tere Liye, rich in Islamic educational values, offers deep insights into Islamic principles that can be applied in daily life. Therefore, the researcher connects it with the relevance to students at Pondok Pesantren Mahasina Darul Qur'an Wal Hadits. The objectives of this research are: (1) To identify the Islamic educational values present in the novel "Janji" by Tere Liye; (2) To understand the depiction of Islamic educational values in the novel "Janji" by Tere Liye and their relevance to students at Pondok Pesantren Mahasina Darul Qur'an Wal Hadits. The data collection techniques used in this research are interviews and documentation. The chosen data analysis technique is qualitative descriptive analysis. The research findings based on the Islamic educational values in the novel "Janji" by Tere Liye include: firstly, the values of Aqidah, which cover faith in Allah, faith in angels, faith in the holy books, faith in prophets and messengers, faith in the Day of Judgment, and faith in divine decree and predestination; secondly, the values of worship; and thirdly, the values of morality, which include praiseworthy and blameworthy morals. These values also align with the relevance to the students at Pondok Pesantren Mahasina Darul Qur'an Wal Hadits

ANALYSIS OF MORAL VALUES IN TERE LIYE’S NOVEL “PULANG”

Literary works are creations of aesthetic values that the author wants to communicate through writing, such as telling a story in the first person or in the third person. The literary novel "Pulang" by a writer named Dervish with the pen name "Tere Liye". This novel is about traveling home, going through battle after battle, embracing all hatred and pain for peace. This study aims to describe religious moral values, social moral values and personal moral values in the novel by Tere Liye. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques are library techniques, listening and taking notes. The results of this study determine the moral values in the novel by Tere Liye, namely religious moral values, social moral values and personal moral values. In this novel, Bujang never violates Mamak's mandate that he is forbidden to drink, which shows the existence of religious moral values. In addition, the social moral values in this novel are manifested in togetherness, and mutual cooperation, especially in the Tong family. And the moral value of an individual is how Bujang eliminates his inner fear.

The semiotic study in the novel Yang Have Long Gone by Tere Liye expresses signs in the text to form a more profound meaning through symbols, icons, and indices. This novel contains many symbols, icons, and indexes that create a system of interconnected signs through dialogue, descriptions, and events. Thus, semiotic studies understand how this novel's signs interact to create a more complex meaning. The problem formulation in this research is the semiotic elements of the icon, index, and symbol aspects in the novel Yang Lama Lagi by Tere Liye. This research aims to describe, analyze, and conclude the signs, which include the icon, index, and symbol aspects. This research's benefit is understanding and defining semiotic theory through icons, indices, and symbols in literary works. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The data collection technique used in this research is hermeneutics: reading, taking notes, and concluding. The results of this research show that in the novel Yang Has Long Gone by Tere Liye, some signs include aspects of icons, indexes, and symbols. There are 12 data for the icon aspect, 54 for the index aspect, and 34 for the symbol aspect. In this research, it can be concluded that the index aspect that is most often found in the novel Yang Has Long Gone by Tere Liye, this aspect is related to the causal and cause-effect relationships that arise in the cultural context of the characters in the novel Yang Has Long Gone by Tere Liye.

Literary psychology as a science that studies the human soul and personality associated with literary works because in literary works can be found various behaviors, dispositions and conflicts experienced by humans. With the above facts, the authors are interested in conducting aresearch entitled "Analysis of the Literary Psychology of Tere Liye's Novel Goodbye". Problems in the research: (1) What is the character's character in the study of literary psychology in Tere Liye's novel Selamat Datang? (2) What is the theme in Tere Liye's novel Selamat Malam? (3) How is the conflict of characters in the study of literary psychology in Tere Liye's novel Selamat Stay?. The theory used in literary psychology research refers to the theory of Mana Sikana (1986) and other supporting theories, namely, Burhan Nurgiyantoro (2013), Hamidy (2012). The approach used is a qualitative approach with the type of library research, and uses a descriptive method. Data collection techniques through hermeneutic techniques. The results of the study concluded that: (1) The character's character has 14 data, namely Sintong Stay: firm, patient, wise, diligent. Jess: Honestly. Inang (Mrs. Sintong): humorous, angry, Bulik Ningrum: compassionate. Paklik Maman: clever, cunning. Slamet: scared. Ucok: fine. Mawar Bright Bintang: bad and Mr. Dean is good. (2) 4 data themes, namely the central theme: bad deeds will be miserable and several complementary themes (3) character conflicts have 12 data, namely 2 internal conflicts that occurred in Sintong Stay and 10 external conflicts.

This research was conducted to increase the value of character education in children through written literary works, especially the novel entitled "The Value of Character Education for the Character Sri Ningsih in the Novel "Tentang Kamu" by Tere Liye". The problem underlying this research is the lack of character development in children, whether caused by parents or the environment. Therefore, the value of character education is very important for children, and it is important to instill the value of character education in literary works, because whether we realize it or not, literary works not only provide entertainment, but also have positive values ​​that can be applied. . In real life. One way to increase the value of character education in children is to encourage them to read books that attract attention and inspire. In this research, the researcher suggested reading the novel "About You" by Tere Liye by examining the character values ​​of the character Sri Ningsih. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method. So it is very important for us to research this research because it must ensure that children have strong personalities and good morals so that they can face life's challenges well and remember how great social and cultural diversity is in Indonesia.

Mindset’s writer influences creation of literary works. This mindset is come from the society around writer. In literary works, mindset’s writer will become world view. This research analyzing world view of Tere Liye in Matahari novel. The theory used is Lucien Goldmann's Genetic Structuralism. World view is obtained by describing several variables, there is homology, social facts, social class and trans-individual subjects. This research describe the structure of literary works and world view. This research included in the type of library research with descriptive qualitative approach. The research data is in the form of sentences or paragraphs in the Matahari novel by Tere Liye. The data source is the Matahari novel by Tere Liye. The data collection technique focuses on reading and listening techniques. Data analysis techniques using dialectical techniques. The data presentation technique is an informal technique. The results of this research indicate that the structure of literary works consists of plot, character and setting. The plot used is a chronological plot. There are eight characters who have a influence on the storyline. The setting used is the city of Jakarta during the Orde Baru era. Homology shows that the events related to Matahari novel by Tere Liye originated from the events of the Orde Baru era. Human facts are in the form of social issues, there is discrimination, militarism, restriction of freedom and revolt movements. The social class is divided into two groups, there is the bourgeoisie represented by the Dewan Kota Zaramaraz and the proletariat represented by Raib and friends. This group is led by the character named Ali who has revolutionary ideas. Ali represents the writer in his imaginary universe. World view that the writer raises is a revolutionary world view.

Analysis of Educational Values in the Novel Si Anak Savana by Tere Liye as Teaching Material for Literature Learning in High School

<p>Character education is a crucial aspect that must be imparted to pupils in schools. This is due to the fact that students, particularly adolescents, engage in a range of deviant behaviors as a manifestation of juvenile delinquency, including physical altercations, harassment, promiscuity, and similar activities. Contemporary reports in the media suggest that juvenile criminality has surpassed acceptable boundaries. The significance of character education in daily life can be exemplified through literary works, particularly novels. This research aims to analyze the educational values included in the novel "Si Anak Savana" by Tere Liye and assess the potential use of these values as teaching material for literary instruction in high school. The research employed a qualitative methodology. The research employs data collection strategies such as reading and note-taking. The analysis conducted reveals that the novel Si Anak Savana by Tere Liye encompasses fourteen educational values, namely: Religious, Honest, Disciplined, Hard Work, Creative, Independent, Democratic, Curious, Friendly, Peaceful, Passionate Reading, Environmental Care, Social Care, and Responsibility. The findings of this study serve as a resource that is anticipated to enhance understanding and can be applied in the teaching of Indonesian language to twelfth grade students, specifically in relation to the educational values. The urgency of this research is to describe the educational values in the novel "Si Anak Savana" by Tere Liye. The limitation of this research is that it is still limited to descriptive analysis and has not been carried out through experimental research to test its effectiveness</p>

The presence of language makes it easier for humans to interact as a means of communication. In its function, literary language can support the creative abilities of writers, and even become a language with artistic value. The aim of this research is to understand and describe the function of language contained in the short story "Berjuta Rasa" by Tere Liye. This research can help broaden understanding of Indonesian literary works, especially the short stories by Tere Liye. This research method is descriptive qualitative. The data collection technique in this research is by taking written sources, namely the short story "Berjuta Rasa" by Tere Liye with the aim of obtaining data as material for analysis. Based on the research results, six language functions were found based on Roman Jacobson's perspective as follows: 1) referential function; 2) emotional function; (3) poetic function; (4) phatic function; (5) conative function; (6) metalingual function;. This research enriches the theoretical understanding of the application of Roman Jakobson's language functions in literary works and provides practical guidance for readers and writers in understanding and utilizing linguistic elements to build meaning and emotion in short stories. Â AbstrakKehadiran bahasa memudahkan manusia dalam berinteraksi sebagai alat komunikasi. Dalam fungsi bahasa sastra dapat mendukung kemampuan daya cipta sastrawan, bahkan sekaligus menjadi bahasa yang bernilai seni. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memahami dan mendeskripsikan fungsi bahasa yang terdapat dalam cerpen Berjuta Rasanya karya Tere Liye. Penelitian ini dapat membantu memperluas pemahaman tentang karya sastra Indonesia, khususnya cerpen karya Tere Liye. Metode penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah dengan cara mengambil sumber tertulis yakni cerpen Berjuta Rasanya karya Tere Liye dengan tujuan memperoleh data sebagai bahan analisis. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, maka ditemukan enam fungsi bahasa berdasarkan perspektif Roman Jakobson sebagai berikut: 1) fungsi referensial; 2) fungsi emosional; (3) fungsi puitis; (4) fungsi fatis; (5) fungsi konatif; (6) fungsi metalingual; Penelitian ini memperkaya wawasan teoritis tentang penerapan fungsi bahasa Roman Jakobson dalam karya sastra, serta memberikan panduan praktis bagi pembaca dan penulis dalam memahami dan memanfaatkan elemen linguistik untuk membangun makna dan emosi dalam cerpen.

Analisis Deskriptif Representasi Kata “Hujan” Dalam Novel Hujan Karya Tere Liye

The novel “Hujan” by Tere Liye is a literary work that combines elements of science fiction with the theme of love and struggle. The story is set between 2042 and 2050, where the world experiences a terrible natural disaster due to a volcanic eruption that results in a depopulation of the human population. The main character, Lail, is a girl who loses both of her parents due to the disaster and meets Esok, a young man who saves her. The purpose of this study is to analyze the word rain in Tere Liye's novel Hujan. The author uses a qualitative method with the data used being the novel Hujan by Tere Liye. In this novel, the word hujan is not just a natural phenomenon, but a symbol rich in meaning and emotion. In this novel, hujan functions to describe various themes such as loss, love, friendship, and the main character's life struggles. Hujan has a deep representation both in terms of physicality and mood. Physically, rain describes extreme climate change due to natural disasters, such as an ancient volcanic eruption that causes a volcanic winter. Rain reflects the emotions and journeys of the main characters, Lail and Esok. Rain is often associated with feelings of sadness, loss, and hope. The representation of rain in this novel not only functions as a physical element, but also as a tool to describe the emotional dynamics between characters and criticism of the environmental conditions faced by humanity.

Moral Education Values in Tere Liye's novel Amelia as The Implementation of Student Character Building Through Indonesian Language Learning

This research is a type of qualitative descriptive research. The subject of this research is the novel Amelia by Tere Liye, namely excerpts from the novel containing the values of moral education. The results showed that there were seven values of moral education in the novel Amelia by Tere Liye, including honesty, compassion, not giving up, being patient, helping, caring and loving peace. Through the description of the values of moral education found in the novel Amelia by Tere Liye, this can be used as a reference for character learning through Indonesian language subjects. Because the analysis of the values of moral education is carried out through intrinsic and extrinsic elements. Mainly the values of moral education in the novel which can be found through the analysis of the extrinsic elements of literary works which are Indonesian language learning materials. So that the extrinsic analysis found through the values of moral education in the novel can be used as a learning tool in Indonesian subjects.
