Abstract
O the final morning of the Society for Wetland Scientists conference in Madison, Wisconsin, this past June, Dr. Raymond Semlitsch, an amphibian ecologist at the University of Missouri-Columbia, implored his colleagues to advocate to the U.S. Congress about the value of wetlands. Sharing an anecdote of a friend and colleague who canceled a family vacation last-minute to testify before Congress, Semlitsch suggested that all scientists need to display this level of dedication to adequately protect wetlands.
