Abstract

Based on refined plastic hinge, this paper considers the effects of second-order effects of structure plastic strength, geometric imperfection, residual stresses to the structure stability by modifying the element stiffness matrix. In this study 12 story braced staggered truss systems were designed and their seismic performances were evaluated by the modified element stiffness matrix. The results were compared with the seismic performance of conventional staggered truss systems. According to the analysis results, the braced staggered truss systems showed relatively satisfactory load-resisting capability compared with conventional staggered truss systems, the herringbone braces and symmetrical arrangement monoclinic braces are better to improve the lateral stiffness.
