Abstract

The adsorption of p-toluenesulphonate anions on polycrystalline gold from mixed solutions at constant ionic strength has been studied by measuring the differential capacity. The adsorption can be fitted by a Frumkin isotherm (with a value of 6.5 for the A parameter) and a Langmuir isotherm. The standard Gibbs energy of adsorption is a linear function of the surface charge. The inner-layer capacity is analysed into its components. The results obtained have been compared with the data for p-toluene-sulphonate anions adsorption on the Hg electrode.
