Abstract

Background Chronic fatigue syndrome is being recognised increasingly in children and adolescents and most schools see it as a familiar problem. Available information through the Internet and the media is both confusing and in conflict with scientific research. Cognitive behaviour therapy with a graded approach to activity appears to be the most effective treatment for adults with chronic fatigue syndrome and a similar approach is used with children. Previous studies had looked at the beliefs and attitudes of adults with chronic fatigue syndrome, but no studies had looked specifically at teachers.
