Abstract
The long adjustment times implied by the neoclassical growth model are reviewed. The model is transformed into state-space notation, and the results of the minimum-time problem from optimal control theory are used as a basis for decreasing these adjustment times. This note illustrates the dynamic behaviour of a popular economic model and provides an example of applying optimal control theory to theoretical economics.
