Slater discusses the history of the Phi Beta Kappa Society and its oratory. His sources for the article come from The Rutgers Phi Beta Kappa Collection which was started in 1900 by Librarian George A. Osborn, with the assistance of the Rev. Oscar M. Voorhees of New Brunswick, historian of Phi Beta Kappa.
