Abstract

The title problem is solved using very simple co-ordinate functions and the Rayleigh-Schmidt technique, and constitutes an extension of a previous study performed by the authors. It is assumed that the plate edge is elastically restrained against rotation. Numerical results are presented for several combinations of orthotropic parameters and values of the concentrated mass:plate mass ratio, for the lower frequencies corresponding to axisymmetric modes. A rather important feature of the present paper is the fact that the optimization of the frequency coefficients is performed with respect to several exponential parameters contained in the approximate displacement function.
