Abstract

Governments have briskly enforced lockdown and national social distancing across many societies to varying degrees, internationally, due to the outbreak of the SARSCoV- 2 coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic. This article addresses challenges and implications posed by addiction under the novel conditions at a time when the infectious disease currently has no cure. Although substance misuse is mentioned, alcohol issues areprominently emphasised due to the dearth of information available regarding substance misuse specifi cally at this stage of the pandemic.
