Abstract

We propose a new adaptive real-time polling service (artPS) scheme in order to adaptively allocate polling resources upon arrival of non-periodic real-time on-line gaming packets. Performance evaluation shows that the proposed artPS scheme increases a system capacity of 3.4 - 13.5%, compared to that of the rtPS scheme, by reducing the amount of the polling resources to 67.6 - 77.2% of that of the conventional rtPS scheme. The proposed artPS scheme is shown to be very effective for accommodating non-periodic real-time traffic like on-line gaming traffic.
