Abstract

A 35-year-old primigravida, with an uneventful antenatal course, presented with anuria and high-grade fever for 4 days after an emergency caesarean section at 37 weeks, done because of oligohydramnios and fetal distress. On presentation, she was febrile and had anasarca and basal crepitations in bilateral lungs. Blood tests revealed a hemoglobin of 10.3 g/dl, total leucocyte count of 23 × 109/l, platelet count of 350 × 109/l, serum creatinine of 9.4 mg/dl, and urinalysis showed 3+ protein.
