Abstract
PbS octahedral cubic crystals were embedded in graphene nanosheets (GNS) which were synthesized using the autoclave method and utilized for the sonocatalytic degradation of Methylene blue (MB) and Congo red (CR) dye. The effects of the photocatalytic activity were investigated with two different dyes using a similar time interval. The graphene nanosheet-supported PbS octahedral nanocubes (GNS@PbS) displays excellent degradation within 10 min in the presence of sonochemical treatment. Sonocatalytic treatment reveals that more effective OH groups are produced from the hot spots, which helped to enhance the degradation of the dyes. Further, the addition of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) led to more rapid degradation of MB dye compared with CR dye.
