Abstract

Growth control in eukaryotes depends on the TOR kinase, which integrates energy and nutrient signals. In this issue of Developmental Cell, Liu etal. demonstrate that, in plants, inorganic nitrogen and amino acids activate TOR via the GTPase ROP2 to promote cell proliferation and leaf growth in the shoot.
