Abstract
Differential cross sections have been measured for the 24Mg(n,p) 24Na and 27Al(n,α) 24Na reactions in the neutron energy range from near-threshold to approx. 10 MeV using 238U fast-neutron fission as a cross section standard. The present data generally support previous work, although the cross sections tend to be somewhat larger for 27Al(n,α) 24Na, particularly in the 8–9 MeV range. These data contribute significantly to reducing the uncertainty in contemporary knowledge of the cross sections for these reactions in the threshold region.
