  • Jieqiong Li

To build the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area into an international education demonstration plot is inseparable from the innovative development of higher aesthetic education. From the perspective of cultural confidence, we can find that the Greater Bay Area has unique advantages in aesthetic education due to its rich cultural and artistic resources, original artistic atmosphere, prosperous creative industries and art markets, abundant art academies, and active international exchanges. At present, colleges and universities in the Greater Bay Area have made some progress in the establishment of aesthetic education courses, the construction of aesthetic education practice platforms, the international exchange of aesthetic education, and the interdisciplinary integration of aesthetic education. But meanwhile, the deficiencies in the distribution of aesthetic education resources, the improvement of the aesthetic education evaluation system, and the satisfaction of aesthetic education with social needs cannot be neglected. Thus, aesthetic education in colleges and universities in the Greater Bay Area can be innovated through the following paths: integrating traditional Chinese culture as well as regional culture of the Greater Bay Area, introducing advanced teaching methods and technologies of aesthetic education, strengthening the interdisciplinary integration of aesthetic education, establishing a scientific evaluation mechanism for aesthetic education, deepening international exchanges and cooperation in higher aesthetic education, supporting the construction of art laboratories in colleges and universities, increasing social attention and involvement in higher aesthetic education, and building an omni-media communication system for higher aesthetic education.

  • Gene Anthony Salazar

This study is aimed at developing a strategic gender needs framework for the senior citizens in Davao City. The study used a convergence-parallel mixed methods design and a snowball sampling technique. As part of the quantitative study, a survey questionnaire consisting of 20 items was used to collect data from the 20 senior citizen participants. On the other hand, a qualitative study was also facilitated through the key informant interviews of two elders. The location of the data gathering is in Davao City. The mean and t-test were the statistical tools used in the study. Also, data triangulation was utilized to check the convergence (divergence) of the results. The study’s findings showed that senior citizens’ levels of deprivation were high in terms of help-seeking behavior. In the same manner, the participation level in terms of family and community decision-making was very high. Meanwhile, it was found that there is a significant difference in the level of deprivation experienced in terms of help-seeking behavior and participation in decision making among senior citizens when grouped according to age. This concurs with the fact that, as they age, they are likely to experience deprivations. On the other hand, the study concurred that there is no significant difference in the level of deprivation experienced in terms of help-seeking behavior and participation in decision-making among senior citizens when grouped according to sex, primary source of income, average monthly income, and medical history. Given the qualitative data, this study confirmed that the salient and dominant themes triggered in the thematic analysis are: the prolonged turn-around time in the scheduled social pension pay-outs; the insufficient amount of social pension; the lack of livelihood training or programs obtained; and the age discrimination to access work. Furthermore, significant statements about the deprivation experiences of senior citizens were analyzed, which resulted in a common category called “poverty.” Lastly, Senior Citizens on Relevant Enactions (SCORE) is the proposed strategic gender needs framework for the senior citizens in Davao City that aims to provide an avenue to enhance their living conditions through suitable and relevant strategies and programs.

  • Wenjuan Zhao

This study aims to address the disconnect between theoretical exploration and practical implementation of aesthetic education in colleges and universities, as well as the insufficient systematic research on its development path, so as to construct a more scientific and operable theoretical system and practical framework for college aesthetic education. The research adopts a combination of literature review, comparative research, and logical analysis methods. First, it systematically combs the core connotations and theoretical foundations of aesthetic education at home and abroad, including the evolution of aesthetic education theories in the context of modern higher education and the value orientation of aesthetic education in cultivating comprehensive talents. Second, it compares the typical practical models of aesthetic education in representative universities across different countries, focusing on analyzing the organizational mechanisms, curriculum settings, and resource allocation of aesthetic education practices. Finally, it explores the key bottlenecks restricting the integration of theory and practice in Chinese college aesthetic education, such as the lack of organic connection between curriculum theory and teaching practice, and the insufficient support of evaluation systems for practical development. The results show that the theoretical system of college aesthetic education should be based on the dual dimensions of "value shaping" and "ability cultivation", and the practical path should focus on optimizing the interdisciplinary integration of aesthetic education courses, strengthening the construction of aesthetic education practice platforms, and improving the multi-subject collaborative evaluation mechanism. This study provides theoretical reference and practical guidance for promoting the high-quality development of aesthetic education in colleges and universities.

Stakeholder perspectives on the preferred service ecosystem for senior citizens living at home: a qualitative interview study
  • Sep 19, 2023
  • BMC Geriatrics
  • Christophe Eward Kattouw + 2 more

BackgroundMost senior citizens want to live independently at home as long as possible. The World Health Organization recommends an age-friendly community approach by transforming the service ecosystem for senior citizens and basing it on the question “What matters to you?”. However, there is limited research-based knowledge to determine the characteristics of the preferred service ecosystem from the perspectives of multiple stakeholders. Therefore, the aim of the study was to gain a deeper understanding of multiple stakeholder perspectives on the preferred service ecosystem for senior citizens living at home.MethodsFour stakeholder groups (n = 57) from a Norwegian municipality participated in an interview study in 2019 and 2020: senior citizens, carers, healthcare professionals, and managers. Data were analysed according to qualitative content analysis.ResultsOverall, there was considerable correspondence between the four stakeholder groups’ perspectives on the preferred service ecosystem for senior citizens. Six themes were developed: (1) “self-reliance – living independently at home as long as possible”; (2) “remaining active and social within the community”; (3) “support for living at home as long as possible”; (4) “accessible information and services”; (5) “continuity of services”; and (6) “compassionate and competent healthcare professionals”.ConclusionsIn order to adapt and meet changing needs, the preferred service ecosystem should support senior citizens’ autonomy through interpersonal relationships and involvement. Healthcare managers and decision makers should consider a broader range of practical and social support services. Municipalities should plan for and develop age-friendly infrastructures, while healthcare professionals should rely on their compassion and competence to meet senior citizens’ needs.

The construction of modern aesthetic education innovative talent cultivation mode in universities based on big data technology
  • May 8, 2023
  • Applied Mathematics and Nonlinear Sciences
  • Chen Wang + 1 more

To strengthen the comprehensive literacy of college students and have a correct aesthetic concept, the cultivation of innovative talents in modern college aesthetic education under big data is proposed. The mixed-filtered college aesthetic training data were used to calculate the prediction function, loss function, and regression parameters using a logistic regression model. The training sample probabilities are derived from the maximum likelihood function to predict the unmade scores in the teacher’s scoring matrix, which is trained to fit the original scoring matrix. The behavior of each student is divided into a corresponding label, and the aesthetic education courses with historical preferences of students in the same category are recommended to the target students in that category. By iteratively updating the values of each cluster center one by one, the data with high similarity are clustered into one class, and the distances of all the cluster centers are recalculated to alleviate the data sparsity problem and scalability problem of logistic regression. The information of the training set is used as input data, and the numerical type indicators are used as the basis for judgment to obtain the satisfaction situation of students with the recommended results, and the indicators for visually evaluating the gap between the predicted and real ratings of the system and the accurate and complete data on the cultivation of innovative talents in modern university aesthetic education are counted. The analysis results show that under the big data technology, the physical education courses in colleges and universities carry out the education of the concept of beauty, the innovative form is better, and the percentage of the concept of strength and beauty reaches 69%, strengthening the ability of college students to feel beauty.
