Abstract

1. The reactivity of the halogen in halocarboranes in nucleophilic substitution reactions is considerably lower than in halobenzenes 2. The rate of nucleophilic substitution of the B-halogen bond in the o-carborane ring increases for different positions in the order: 3(6)<4(5, 7, 11)<8(10)<9(12). 3. The iodocarboranes fail to enter into the isotope exchange reaction with Na131I or into the Ullmann reaction.
