Abstract

The analysis of the actin cytoskeleton reorganization of bone marrow multipotent mesenchymal stromal cells (MMSCs) of rat after hour adhesion to a monolayer of endothelial cells (ECs) line EA.hy 926 allowed us to identify three types of cells interacting with the ECs. Approximately half of MMSCs retained a rounded shape, most of them contained large round actin aggregates, had irregular borders and contacted with the surface of the ECs microvilli or protrusions similar to small lamellae. Almost all other cells were surrounded around of narrow lamellae. In addition, were seldom observed flattened elongated cells that contacting with ECs by means of focal contacts. Microenvironment factors, such as proinflammatory cytokine tumor necrosis factor α or plasma proteins affected the ratio different types of stromal cell types.
