Abstract

An original program is developed for examination of acousto-optic interaction in biaxial crystals. The program makes it possible to calculate for an arbitrary crystal cut all parameters of optical and acoustic waves, frequency dependences of the Bragg angles, acousto-optic figure of merit, as well as angular and frequency characteristics of the acousto-optic effect. The efficiency of the program is demonstrated by the example of an alpha-iodic acid crystal. It is shown that in the vicinity of optical axes the Bragg angle frequency dependences at the anisotropic diffraction have essentially other views in comparison with uniaxial crystals. Crystal cuts with maximal values of the acousto-optic figure of merit are found.
