Abstract
Backgroud Whether hypertension can result to myocardium apoptosis and that these changes are reversible is unclear. Objective To understand how many patients with high blood pressure have reversible apoptosis myocardium and whether ACEI can improve the apoptosis myocardium. Methods For 216 consecutive primary high blood pressure patients not prescribed with ACEI anti-high blood pressure agents before they were admitted to hospital, rest SPECT was checked before and after ACEIs were prescribed. Benapril was prescribed, 10mg daily for 12weeks and Amilodipine 5mg daily was given if blood pressure was not targeted to less than 140/90mm Hg.
