Abstract
Introduction: Prior studies have focused on patient related risk factors in an effort to explain the higher mortality risk in women versus men following elective open surgical repair (OSR) and endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs). However, there may also be hospital related factors that contribute to this disparity in mortality. A nationwide retrospective study that accounted for both types of factors was undertaken.
