Abstract

Substantial loss to follow-up occurs across the hepatitis C virus (HCV) care continuum, especially at HCV viral load testing.1 Interventions are needed to enhance the uptake of HCV viral load testing in diverse settings and continue the momentum to reach WHO targets for elimination of viral hepatitis. In The Lancet Gastroenterology & Hepatology, Adam Trickey and colleagues report the results of a systematic review and meta-analysis that examined how point-of-care (POC) viral load testing could enhance HCV detection and other key outcomes along the care cascade.
