Abstract

Background: Several techniques have been designed to increase the size of the future liver remnant (FLR) after liver resection. Associated Radiofrequency Ablation and Portal Vein Ligation for Staged Hepatectomy (ARAPS) (i.e RFA ablation + portal vein ligation), is a novel technique shown to have great impact in rats. In the present study the effect of ARAPS versus portal vein ligation (PVL) alone was compared on liver regeneration and function of the FLR in pigs.
