Abstract

The ac loss in a slab of a nonideal type II superconductor under an ac magnetic field of a cosine wave form with a small amplitude is discussed with the aid of the critical-state model including the ohmic current term. With the aid of iteration calculation from the low frequency side, we obtained analytic experessions of the flux distribution and the ac loss up to the order of (Ω/Ωv)2, where Ωv is the value of the angular frequency Ω at which the magnitude of the viscous-drag force becomes equal to the pinning force. It is shown that the total ac loss W(Ω) takes a maximal value of about 1.1W(0) near Ω=0.6Ωv.
