- Journal of Trust Management
© C r The field of computational trust and trust management is being addressed in a wide range of academic disciplines ranging from Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW) and service selection on the World Wide Web through reputation and recommendation systems to computer and network security. Trust and trust management are therefore among the topics of interest for many large international and specialized conferences like the International Conference on Trust and Trustworthy Computing (Trust), the International Conference on Trust, Privacy & Security in Digital Business (TrustBus), the Annual Conference on Privacy, Security and Trust (PST), and the IFIP WG 11.11 International Conference on Trust Management (IFIPTM) have established themselves over the past decade. In particular, the two conferences mentioned last (PST and IFIPTM), have a comprehensive scope that results in a wide range of trust related topics covered at the conferences. This volume includes invited extensions of some of the best papers presented at the 7 International Conference on Trust Management (IFIPTM’14) and the 11 Annual Conference on Privacy, Security and Trust (PST 2014). Having achieved among the highest scores when reviewed for the conferences, these extended papers were submitted to a second round of reviews before being accepted for this special issue. The contributions from IFIPTM cover computational trust, social aspects of trust management as well as trending topics such as the use of trust for cloud computing. The contributions from PST address a diverse set of problems, such as determining the trustworthiness of crowdsourced information resources, measuring and communicating the trustworthiness of online information, establishing trust in interactive ubiquitous display environments and detecting possible Sybil attacks in vehicular networks through platoon dispersal. The broad set of topics covered by these papers illustrates both the importance of trust and trust management in diverse application areas, and the multidisciplinarity of the approaches that are necessary to address these trust issues.

- Journal of the Medical Library Association : JMLA
An international meeting with its richness and diversity of topics and authors often magnifies the breadth and depth of the meeting experience. This seemed readily apparent at “One Health: Information in an Interdependent World,” held in Boston, Massachusetts, on May 3–8, 2013, which attracted more than 2,700 attendees from 41 countries, 190 papers, and 287 posters 1. One Health used the framework of the 113th Medical Library Association (MLA) Annual Meeting and Exposition to anchor 3 international conferences and provide a unique federated meeting experience including joint plenary sessions, continuing education opportunities, and the usual extensive MLA topical section programming. The meeting also retained the unique identity of the international collaborators through topical meeting tracks and responsibility for track programming. The framework allowed the participating international conferences to focus on programming and promoting the meeting for their constituencies and to participate in selecting One Health plenary speakers. One Health included 3 international concurrent conferences: the 11th International Congress on Medical Librarianship (ICML), the 7th International Conference of Animal Health Information Specialists (ICAHIS), and the 6th International Clinical Librarian Conference (ICLC). The international conference entities are not organizations with dues-paying members such as MLA, but represent communities of interest capable of supporting and sustaining international conferences that have included the first ICML in London in 1953, the first ICLC conference (called the first UK Clinical Librarian Conference) in 2002, and the first ICAHIS conference in Reading, United Kingdom, in 1992. ICML is officially sponsored by the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) Health and Biosciences Libraries Section 2. The Health and Biosciences Libraries Section, and specifically its standing committee, recommends sites for each ICML. Before One Health, the MLA annual meeting and the ICML had been linked twice, both times in Washington, DC, in 1963 (2nd ICML) and 1995 (7th ICML). The 1963 and 1995 MLA/ICML meetings were conjoint meetings rather than the concurrent, federated meetings characterizing the Boston One Health meeting. Concurrent meetings of ICML, ICLC, and ICAHIS occurred for the first time in Brisbane, Australia, at the 10th ICML, 4th ICLC, and 6th ICAHIS 3. Publications that memorialize international health sciences library meeting content are included in journals such as the Journal of the Medical Library Association (JMLA), Health Information and Libraries Journal, and other library science publications or in published proceedings, including past ICML published proceedings 4. ICLC has maintained links to papers from previous congresses on a website 5, and since 2009 has utilized the digital repository of the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia, following the 2009 concurrent meeting with ICML, ICLC, and ICAHIS 6. ICAHIS has used the institutional repository of Washington State University as the archive of its papers beginning in 1992 7 and, since 2009, has used the University of Queensland digital repository to archive past meeting content. Faced with an embarrassment of riches in the form of 190 papers presented at the One Health meeting and with the understanding that One Health papers related to ICML, ICLC, and ICAHIS programs would ultimately be published in the University of Queensland digital repository, MLA has chosen to publish four invited papers from the One Health meeting. “The Ethics of Scholarly Publishing: Exploring Differences in Plagiarism and Duplicate Publication across Nations” by Kathleen A. Amos, Susan Swogger, and Kathleen A. McGraw “Building Capacity in a Health Sciences Library to Support Global Health Projects” by Mellanye Lackey “Improving Medical Education in Kenya: An International Collaboration” by Alexa Mayo “Information Empowerment: Pre-Departure Resource Training for Students in Global Health” by Gurpreet K. Rana These papers are not intended to provide an overview of the One Health meeting, but to highlight some of the work and growing interest related to international librarianship and global health currently underway in North American health sciences libraries. Lackey's paper on capacity building in a health sciences library addresses the need to articulate a vision for the library in sync with an institutionally directed global vision and to create an organizational structure to facilitate success. Rana reports on pre-departure resource training for university students who are engaged in global health programs that are supported by the university. The paper underscores the importance of information skills training to the success of global missions. Amos's paper on the international incidence of retractions in fifty countries related to plagiarism and other reasons highlights the globalization of unethical publication practices. Mayo reports on an international partnership between a library in Kenya and the University of Maryland Health Sciences and Human Services Library, where the goal of improving the quality of medical education will have a major impact on health outcomes in Kenya.

Participation in international scientific conferences is often considered a valuable opportunity for students pursuing higher education, particularly in fields such as management. However, the extent to which Management Study Program students engage in such conferences and the impact of this participation on their academic and personal growth remain relatively underexplored areas of research. The research aims to provide insights into the participation of Management Study Program students in international scientific conferences, shedding light on their motivations, experiences, and the outcomes of such involvement. The descriptive qualitative method is used to analyze the findings in the form of questionnaires given to 15 students of the management study program, Institut Bisnis dan Informatika Kwik Kian Gie who have attended the International Conference event. The general view of the students was that attending international conferences was considered beneficial for improving English language skills, organization, as well as socialization and understanding of diverse cultures although individual experiences and perspectives varied. Positive view towards participation in international conferences and see it as a valuable opportunity to improve their English language skills and their personal and professional development. It is expected that through this research, there will be more in-depth and extended research to investigate participants'' experiences in participating in international conferences

- World Mycotoxin Journal
On-going research and interdisciplinary networking among scientists and stakeholders are still needed for the development of affordable and practical tools for farmers and food processors to efficiently manage the risk of mycotoxin contamination along food and feed chains. In order to facilitate appropriate actions, thematic interlaboratory projects have been initiated, professional networking-organisations have been founded, dedicated journals have been started and mycotoxin conferences have been organised. The World Mycotoxin Forum (WMF) has established itself as a leading international networking conference series on mycotoxins where food and feed industry representatives meet with representatives from government, food authorities, food and feed industry and with people from universities and other research institutions from around the world. The WMF has gradually moved from food and feed related technological topics to international and regulatory issues and to mitigation strategies based on fungal and plant genetics, big data based decision support tools and sustainable solutions in view of climate change. Over all these years, the conclusions made from each WMF have been summarised by the general conference chair(s) as the ‘top 5 lessons learned’ on the last day of each conference. 50 years after the first international conference on mycotoxins organised by IPUAC in 1972, this article has compiled all ‘top 5 lessons learned’ presented at the 16 editions of the WMF and joint WMF/IUPAC events organised between 2001 and 2022. Since the first international conference on mycotoxins, much progress has been made in the prevention, reduction and control of mycotoxins. However, continuous attention and further efforts are still needed in order to tackle the complex issues of mycotoxin contamination especially in view of climate change and other global challenges on the horizon.

Proteomics is at the epicenter of post-genomics biotechnologies that are currently driving the next generation system science. Moreover, proteomics is a truly global science. The 6(th) Annual Meeting of Proteomics Society, India (PSI) and International Conference on "Proteomics from Discovery to Function" held from December 7-9, 2014, was a transformative endeavor for global proteomics, bringing together the luminaries in the field of proteomics for the very first time in India. This meeting report presents the lessons learned and the highlights of this international scientific conference that was comprised of nine thematic sessions, pre- and post-conference workshops, and an opportunity to cultivate enduring collaborations for proteomics science to benefit both India and global society. The conference had an unforgettable impression on the participants: for the first time, India hosted past and present President and Council members from the Human Proteome Organization (HUPO), along with eminent scientists and young scholars from India and abroad in the field of proteomics at such a large scale, a major highlight of this international event. In all, the PSI 2014 was a milestone conference that has firmly poised the Indian life sciences community as a leading contributor to post-genomics life sciences, thus cultivating crucial trans-generational capacity and inspiration by recognizing the emerging scholars and omics systems scientists who can think and conduct science from cell to society.

In opening the Levico BEC 2003 meeting, the directors thought it would be useful to say a little about the first BEC workshop held in the same hotel, in the same lecture room, almost exactly ten years ago. I want to give you a personal view of what led up to the historic BEC 93 workshop at Levico and contrast the situation then with the fantastic developments which have occurred over the last decade. BEC 93 was organized by Griffin, Snoke, Stringari, Laloe and Baym. The purpose of the workshop was to bring together people working in different fields of physics but with a common interest in the phenomenon of Bose–Einstein condensation. It is useful to briefly recall the history of BEC studies before the BEC 93 workshop, to understand why it was organized.
