Abstract

This slope was used to determine if SBP was stable (between -1 and +1 mmHg change per month), increased or decreased, the latter two categories further stratified into quartiles of SBP slope. Hazard Ratios (HR) of death associated with increases and decreases in blood pressures, stratified by baseline SBP subgroup, were calculated using Cox models (reference: patients with stable SBP for each respective subgroup, G1 through G4).
