Abstract

The coherence width Γ for fluctuations in nuclear reactions around 20 MeV excitation energy of the compound nucleus increases drastically with decreasing mass numbers. From this it can be shown that there should exist a region of mass numbers where the violation of isospin selection rules is caused by only a few resonances. For this resonance region a two-resonance formula for isospin-forbidden reactions is derived.
