Abstract

During the last few years in the leading Russian nuclear centers conceptual research of various versions of Accelerator Driven System (ADS) were conducted. This study stimulated an occurrence of a number of original new ideas, directed on the improvement of characteristics of ADS with the primary purpose of, effective destruction of long-lived radioactive waste (LLRW). The general idea relates to sectionalized blanket with compound neutron valve. The sectionalized blankets permits a two times decrease in the proton beam of accelerator. The compound neutron valve with Np layer allows an increase in the level of nuclear safety of blanket. The different versions of sectionalized blanket are considered.
